Since our inception in 2016 we’ve always provided rent assistance, primarily to families who were losing a head of household due to deportation or detention. We find our applicants through the day to day service of our Apartment Captains. Our Captains are volunteers who receive bi-annual trainings on how to navigate maintenance issues, parents rights issues, and issues associated with immigration.
In 2020 we worked with: Welcoming Atlanta, The Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta, The Latino Community Fund of GA, & New Story Charity to serve residents in Brookhaven, Chamblee, Doraville, Roswell, Sandy Springs, Hapeville, Lawrenceville, Atlanta, and Wilson, GA.
With your support and the support of our partners in 2020 we were able to distribute over $688,288.41 in rent assistance. However many partner organizations and national funders have returned their gaze to their previous focuses of civic engagement, education, and more, leaving massive gaps for the members of our community.
When you support this program we will continue to provide disaster relief grants directly to community members which they can use for rent, food, housing legal aid or other necessary items.
